Nobody knows how to work a budget more than a fash lover without a trust fund, and with a slew of holiday parties on everyone's calender this month, it's important to think smart and get creative with your favorite little black dress. There's no reason to spend gift giving money on multiple ensembles for the standard holiday get-togethers, instead I urge you all to channel your inner stylist and dress up or down your favorite black dress. If Kate Middleton, 2011's biggest fashion icon, can rock re-wears all over the world, then so can you. There's always at least four ways to wear the same look, you just have to think outside the box. Whether it's your company party, a friends get together, dinner with your family, or a celebration with your man's family, one little black dress is all you need to survive the holiday's in style. Which look are you loving the most? xo
Celebrating with His Family
When styling for a holiday party with your boyfriend, fiance, or husband's side of the family I always suggest aiming for a sweet and festive look filled with charm. Above I paired a red cardigan, with a Forever 21 scarf, my beloved Mary Jane pumps, and a fun pair of grey knee-high socks which are always a go-to fash item for me this time of year.
Company Party
When styling for your company party, it's important to be classic and sophisticated, without being too stuffy. Adding a black sequin blazer will always be a safe bet. Let the jazzy elements of your ensemble be the jewelry and heels.
Family Gathering
When it comes to family gatherings I always place comfort first, simply for the fact that I'm either baking in the kitchen or running around outdoors playing games with my little brother. Try adding a knit crop top to your favorite dress for a fun casual twist, like I did above with my favorite little sweater by Kensie.
Partying with Friends
When styling yourself for a friends party, it's all about being trendy, chic, and fabulous. This is when you can really show off your festive fash. Above I styled my LBD with a red satin puff sleeve blouse by Giambattista Valli for Impulse which I belted to transform the bottom into the perfect cupcake skirt. To complete the look, I added my favorite Jess David bib necklace.
Nails, Nails, Nails!
Don't forget to get festive with your nail polish this winter. Take your holiday ensembles to the next level and get creative with the seasons favorite colors. I used OPI's The Thrill of Brazil (red) and Happy Anniversary (White).
